The predecessor of the Institute is the public security cadre school of Guizhou Provincial People's Government, which was founded in 1950. It is the only public security and judicial institute in Guizhou Province with general specialized education as its main body. It has been 65 years since its establishment.
The college covers an area of 441536 square meters (662.31 mu). The total area of the school building is 183,300 square meters. The existing teaching and scientific research instruments and equipment of the college are worth 104 billion yuan. The college library holds 607,000 books.
There are more than 5000 full-time students in the college. There are 12 specialties in investigation, public security management, police management, drug control, economic crime investigation, criminal technology, police dog technology, security technology, legal secretarial, legal affairs, computer application technology, community management and service.
Among the faculty members, there are 300 full-time teachers, 23 full-time professional technicians, 109 Deputy professional technicians, 12 doctorates and 104 master's degrees. One teacher has been awarded the honorary titles of "National Excellent Teacher", "National Excellent Teacher of Public Security System" and "National Excellent Teacher of Judicial System". Two teachers were selected as the academic leaders of philosophy and Social Sciences in Guizhou Province, and five teachers were appointed as special law researchers of Guizhou Academy of Social Sciences. More than 10 teachers have been employed as professors, tutors and lecturers of master's courses in universities such as Guizhou University. More than 30 teachers have been employed as lecturers in universities such as Guizhou University. Several teachers have served as vice-chairmen, chairmen and vice-chairmen of relevant academic organizations in Guizhou and China.
The courses of "Document Writing", "Case Speech Recognition", "Document Testing", "Forensic Medicine", "Criminal Psychology" and "Criminal Image" of the College were evaluated as national and provincial top-quality courses respectively. In recent years, the College has won 14 provincial and ministerial awards for outstanding teaching achievements, one of which is the first prize for outstanding teaching achievements at the ministerial level of the Ministry of Public Security. In August 2012, the Ministry of Public Security organized the first National Public Security College Teaching Skills Competition. Four participating teachers in our institute received one first prize, two second prize and one third prize for on-site professional teaching.
