Guiyang College is a full-time undergraduate college, which was established in 2004 by the combination of Guiyang Normal College and Guiyang Jinzhu University. Guiyang Teachers'College was established in 1985 (its predecessor was Guiyang Teachers' College, established in 1978). In 2001, it jointly organized undergraduate education with Guizhou Normal University. Guiyang Jinzhu University was founded in 1984. In 2009, Guiyang Normal School was merged. In 2010, as a national pilot school, the school passed the qualified evaluation of undergraduate teaching work of the Ministry of Education. In August 2017, it was identified as the only newly-built undergraduate school in Guizhou Province to recommend the right to grant master's degree on demand.
The school is located in Guizhou Shuanglong Airport Economic Zone with a planned campus area of 1200 mu. The school has 17 teaching institutes (including 1 continuing education institute) and 51 undergraduate majors, covering 10 disciplines such as engineering, science, education, literature, management, law, economics, agriculture, art and medicine. The school enrolls students from 13 provinces (cities and districts), with 10546 full-time students, including 9810 undergraduates, 641 specialists and 95 preparatory students, and more than 20 overseas students.
The school has three national-level science and technology service platforms, including "National Patent Protection Key Contact Base", "Guizhou Research Base of China Patent Protection Association", "National Science and Technology Enterprise Incubator". It has one national and Regional Research Center record base of the Ministry of Education; one provincial engineering technology center, two provincial collaborative innovation centers, two provincial science and technology innovation teams and two provincial university personnel. One research base for arts and social sciences; five characteristic key laboratories, four engineering and technical centers, five scientific and technological innovation teams, six experimental teaching demonstration centers, and six production, study and research bases in Guizhou Province; one first-class construction and cultivation discipline in the region, one provincial characteristic key discipline, five provincial key discipline, three provincial key support disciplines; two national practice bases for University students; and six production, study and research bases. The school is the sponsor of the International Undergraduate Academic Mutual Recognition Course (ISEC) project of the National Overseas Studies Fund Committee. It has reached educational exchanges and cooperation agreements with more than 50 overseas universities such as Quebec University in Canada, Galaxy University in Thailand, Xuanzang University in Taiwan and Chaoyang University of Science and Technology.
